Five-star dog house

In a display of dog appreciation which some people may call barking mad, a British surgeon is building a kennel for her two great danes for £250,000. That is US$368,000, or A$568,000, or enough money to rescue every stray dog in Europe.
Talk about the yap of luxury. These dogs are not paw.
The dog duplex is on an estate near Cirencester in Gloucestershire. Features include sheepskin-lined, temperature-controlled beds, a spa, automatic dispensers of chilled and filtered water, air-conditioning, a sound system, a 132cm plasma TV and a retina scanner installed at the front door to stop any other dogs getting in.
We think the retina scanner may be excessive.
The dogs will have a bedroom each, both with large windows which overlook their private playground.
The kennel has been designed by architect Andy Ramus, and will be built of zinc, glass and limestone.
We just hope the retina scanner is reliable. Wouldn't want the neighbourhood dogs dropping in unannounced. That could be a real party pooper.
